It isn't some kind of Zombie Apocalypse we saw in the media: as bad and numerous as zombies, at least they can be killed by anyone who armed proper against Aragami? Not a chance. Imagine the absolute horror that humankind faced in the blank period: facing an enemy that cannot be stopped in any way. And before the first God Arc makes it into combat (thus the first God Eaters), Aragamis already run through the Earth for six years.Yes, merely twenty years the Earth turns into a wasteland as it's known in the main game. Before we go into detail, keep in mind the first game starts on 2071 AD, when the first Aragami appears in 2050 AD.Warning: All spoilers below are unmarked, as per Nightmare Fuel policy! The PS4 version can be pre-ordered via Amazon. The God Eater series is set in a World Half Empty where humanity is fighting a futile struggle against a never-ending threat, so of course it has its fair share of Nightmare Fuel. God Eater 3 will release this year for PS4 and PC. If you want to see more, you can also enjoy a recent trailer and the first gameplay. There are more of these abilities, and they'll be announced down the line. One example is "Guardian" that activates when performing a "Just Guard" (IE: guarding with perfect timing) and increases attack power for a certain period of time. As long as those are fulfilled, it can be activated as many times as possible during a mission. Lastly, another element is the "Accelerator Trigger" which is a powerful passive ability that will activate when certain conditions are met. Those effects depend from person to person. When it's full it's possible to use the "Engage" feature, triggering a series of positive effects. Yet, when you let go of the trigger, the power is reset, so it involves an interesting risk/reward mechanic.īy staying within a certain distance with a companion the "engage gauge" will grow. Its power raises gradually, and it's possible to move while firing. The other weapon is the Ray Gun, able to emit a continuous beam at the enemy. In naginata form stamina doesn't recover, but the rotation speed is much higher, enabling powerful and wide-ranging attacks. When in sword form, it can attack quickly with both slashing and piercing attacks. The Biting Edge ca transform between a double sword and a naginata. We also get to see more of the weapons used by the hero. When Ra goes into burst mode, its energy is amplified, and wings of flame extend from its back. It also has the ability to create orbs of flames and throw them at enemies. It can float in the air, and dive on unsuspecting opponents. Its body is formed by a bird's head, a human torso, and a celestial globe at the bottom. We already heard t he new Aragami named Anubis, and today we also see more of another, named Ra. This doesn't just cause the Aragami's fighting power to increase, but it shuts down a God Eater's link aid and link burst. They also have an ability close to the "burst" that we saw in previous games. The secret for this is believed to be in their core, but it's still being researched. Destroying the Aragami has become a business, but the loss ratio is also very high.Ī new species of Aragami also appeared with the Kaiki, and they're nicknamed "Kaiki Species" or "Aragami of Disaster." Like the AGE, they show high adaptability and resilience to the ashes. It's home to a large number of AGE, and governed by the pursuit of profit. Pennyworth is also the name of the Port where they both live (you can find the emblem of Pennyworth in the gallery). He is both a companion and a "big brother" presence, gifted with great leadership and care for his friends. The hero has become an AGE when he was very young together with a dark-haired young man named Hugo Pennyworth. The main character of the game is one of them. They're bound by slavery contracts and sent to do the most dangerous missions, yet the rewards they receive are few, and they're deprived of their freedom. The AGE aren't only resistant to the ashes, able to be exposed much longer than conventional God Eaters, but they're also said to be beings "closer to the Aragami" due to their extremely high physical abilities and adaptability. Those who survived escaped to underground bases named "Ports" and create a new breed of God Eaters called "Adaptive God Eaters" (AGE for short) with high resistance to the ashes. The affected area continues to expand, creating massive communication issues. Yet, due to the appearance of an unknown phenomenon named Kaiki (Ashlands), the governing structure of Fenrir collapses, bringing the human race closer to extinction than ever before. In previous games of the series, Fenrir managed to stop the destruction of humanity by Aragami. Today Bandai Namco released a new batch of screenshots and information on the upcoming JRPG God Eater 3.
